Car hijackings are becoming prevalent in Centurion
Car hijackings remain a problem and have now become one of the many prevalent crimes in Centurion.
In the latest incident, two men in a white Hyundai flat bottom truck with no number plates attempted to hijack a resident in Doringkloof last Tuesday at 20:00.
According to information sent to Rekord, two cars were also hijacked in Jasper Street on the same day. Rena Kettle told Rekord that her daughter, son and husband nearly became victims of hijacking right in front of their residential gate. She said the son climbed out to open the gate when he saw a white flat bottom truck suddenly stopping behind them to block them.
“After suspecting that something was wrong, he jumped back into the car, central locked the doors and my husband started to hoot as much as he could to alert whoever could hear.”
A suspect then came to the driver’s side and tried to forcefully open the door but after a struggle he gave up, went back to the truck with the driver and drove off.
“It seems as if the suspects follow and keep a close eye on where the victims go.”
